ROAD SAFETY GETS GLAM, NEW CURVY JEANS AND BURBERRY SALES THROUGH THE ROOF
NEWS: J brand denim just announced that for fall 2008, they will be focusing on a new label of jeans targeted for the curvacious woman.
-Aggie, the face for Burberry, as she is affectionately known has helped the Spring sales of the brand increase 25%, to roughly $2 Billion. The iconic brand founded in 1856 has seen a resurgence of interest since being headed by Brit designer Christopher Bailey.
-Karl Lagerfeld can make anything cool- even the unremarkable safety vest. French road safety experts have made Mr. Lagerfeld the spokesperson for a new safety campaign to encourage drivers to use security vests. The tag line? "It's yellow, it's ugly, it doesn't go with anything, but it could save your life." Safety never looked so snazy.
-Thierry Mugler, designer of the dramatic is back! A capsule collection will be presented next week. The strongpoint will be giving a modern edge to the signature sharp-shouldered silhouette.
- Gianfranco Ferre expands into real estate. The luxury Italian brand, has just signed a multi-billion dollare agreement with Galadari Investment Office to create a luxury tower in Dubai, "The Gianfranco Ferre Stresa". The designer has been long associated with 'archetectural, sculptural clothing', and this venture takes design to a whole new level.
- Emanual Ungaro designer Esteban Cortazar has been called upon to design a limited edition collection for MAC cosmetics, which will focus on feminity and light textures. The collection, slated to launch in October 2008, will include listicks, glosses, eye shadows, mascara, blush and cream colour bases rangin from $11 to $22.
