ROLLS ROYCE COMES TO CALGARY: 100 YEARS OF INSPIRATION

A little bit of Dom Perignon to start the evening off at Hotel Le Germain in Calgary to mark the 100th anniversary of Rolls Royce "spirit of ecstasy"

Phantom Drophead Coupe (it comes with an opulent picnic set that hides away neatly in the trunk). The Phantom Drophead Coupe also has a striking teak deck reminiscent of a classic boat deck. Another unique option is the brushed steel bonnet, and who could resist the temptation to tailor the headrests to one's individual taste. Chooses include having the interlinked Rolls-Royce monogram or Spirit of Ecstasy stitched into the headrests in any standard or contrast trim colour.

The Spirit of Ecstasy is one of the most well known motor car mascots in the world. Designed by Charles Robinson Sykes, The Spirit of Ecstasy has adorned the radiators of Rolls-Royce motor cars since 1911. This wonderful mascot was modeled after a young woman Eleanor Velasco Thornton. The Spirit of Ecstasy also retracts into the hood for several reasons (very Batman).

The Rolls Royce Ghost. "The V12 engine allows for a magic carpet ride for passengers and drivers". Coach doors offer a sophisticated touch- with the touch of a button inside the car, back doors close gently. CSL's team drove The Ghost, it drives like butter, the Ghost is still quick enough to accelerate from zero-60 mph (zero-160 kph) in just over 4.5 seconds. Rack and pinion steering allows for spirited and smooth driving even on undulating roads.

The 'bells and whistles' are exhaustive, from xM satellite radio, night vision, head up display and much more. The gorgeous Malabar wood is a nice finishing touch to the interior

The Rolls-Royce Centenary Phantom. The phantom features an injection V12 engine. At 70mph over 90% of the power is in reserve, making for effortless acceleration.

The beautiful rims with the classic 2:1 - the wheel to body proportions.

The passionate Brian Clark, product specialist at Rolls Royce accompanied CSL's team for a Spring drive around the city. We were blown away by the insight and tidbits that Clark informed us a bout each car in the family of Rolls Royce.

Andrew Mortimer-Lamb, general sales manager at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver was on site at Hotel Le Germain to show off beautiful Rolls-Royce cars and to promote the brand to potential customers in the city.

So the question is,which one should CSL get?

GENERATION GAP...GAP JEANS

Tara Wickwire of Gap talks about the trends for Summer 2010

Brewing expert...... treats guests to some local beer

Guests enjoy the lounge

A beautiful floral arrangement

The hors d'oeuvres courtesy CSL's friends at Charcut

Pastry chef Cheryl Wallbank created these mini cheesecakes, complete with caramel corn

While there CSL talked with Charcut's resident beer expert about Wildrose Brewery, a local Calgary treasure, and sampled some raspberry ale which was deliciously mild.

The big news however was the GAP jeans. Soft and comfortable in different washes and styles there was a pair for everyone.
Tara had some great tips for fall 2010:

1. Distressed jeans, paint splotches, patchwork are all modern and trendy details for jeans.
2. For work appropriate denim try a dark wash.

3. A slim denim legging (or jegging, the newly coined term) is a great way to update your existing jean wardrobe

4. Be sure to look out for GAP's new pants for fall in jean styles you are already familiar with.

5. GAP Canada will be launching an online shopping portal coming late summer/early fall - look out for this one (shipping all across our home and native land).

CALGARY LAUNCH OF ACQUA DI GIOIA AND THE BIG PONY COLLECTION

To celebrate the launch of two new fragrances, CSL was invited to a sneek preview held at Hotel Le Germain Calgary.
Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia for women (available July 1) is a light acquatic scent inspired by Pantelleria.

Mojitos were served - echoing the notes in the perfume - brown sugar, mint, and citrus

Emily DiDonato is the face of the new perfume.

The form of the bottle is meant to resemble a leaf when viewed from above, a droplet of water when viewed from the side and a polished stone when viewed face on.
