SALUT FESTIVAL FINALE DINNER AT CAPO

CSL was invited to the Exclusive Visa infinite dinner at Capo. Guests included David Walker, John Gilchrist and Don House. The event was the cap off to the Salut wine and food festival, a tenday long celebration (April 7-17 2010) that included a chef elimination challenge, california wine fair, AGC cooks dinner and much more.
Dinner included a pasta demonstration from Chef, excellent service and of course a four course meal that was lovely.

VISA INFINITE DINNER AT RIVER CAFE


CSL was invited to the exclusive Visa Infinite/ River CafĂ© dinner series. Guests were greeted with glasses of Veuve Clicquot yellow label and charcuterie tasting including Chef Pohorelic’s favourite- house made 17 Month Berkshire Prosciutto, Duck Liver Pate, Fresh Lamb Merguez.

Throughout out five course meal diners enjoyed commentary from John Gilchrist and the always delightful David Walker (100 wines by David Walker).

CHEF EXCHANGE- SPLENDIDO AND RUSH


The two best new Restaurants in Calgary and Toronto are creating a chef exchange.

On March 24, you can experience the cuisine of Chef Victor Barry of Splendido in Toronto at Rush restaurant in Calgary. Barry began his career in Niagra on the Lake, at 13. In his late teens, he was working under Chef, Lee Parsons at The Prince of Wales hotel. The chef also worked at the two Michelin star, Gidleigh Park Hotel in Devonshire, England.

WHAT WE'RE EATING AT CSL AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

The holidays have been very exciting for the staff at CSL. From gingerbread cake (check out the Holiday Guide: http://www.citystyleandliving.com/holidayguide_2009) and cookies to savoury braised lamb steaks and roasted duck.
There is nothing better than freshly fallen snow, a good classic holiday movie (White Christmas or Miracle on 34 preferably) and the smell of baking to fill the air. In fact 2009 is the first year, in a while that we have had a White Christmas in Calgary. We wish everyone a fantastic 2010.
